Before a lot can be surveyed, graded, sold or built on, it has to be cleared. BRG Demolition clears residential and commercial sites across Ventura County and western LA County, removing old structures, concrete, debris, brush and whatever else stands between you and the next phase. You get one contractor for the demolition, clearing and haul-off.
We clear sites for owners getting ready to build, investors and sellers getting a property ready to list, builders who need a clean pad, and property owners dealing with an overgrown or neglected lot. In fire-prone parts of Ventura County and the Santa Monica Mountains, clearing dry brush and debris also helps with the fire department’s annual brush-clearance and hazard-reduction requirements.
What’s included
- Structure removal: sheds, garages, barns, carports, decks and old foundations
- Concrete and slab removal, including old pads, footings and flatwork
- Brush and vegetation clearing, including tree and stump removal, done in-house
- Debris removal from vacant lots and properties
- Fence and old utility structure removal
- Rough grading and cleanup so the site is ready for the surveyor, grading contractor or builder, done in-house
- Haul-off of all cleared material, with concrete, metal and green waste recycled where possible and disposal and recycling receipts provided
How the process works
- Site walk. We walk the property with you, note what’s coming out, what’s staying (trees, walls, utilities), and how equipment and trucks will get in.
- Written bid. A clear scope with what’s included and any exclusions.
- Pre-work checks. Permits where required, asbestos survey for any older structures, utility disconnects, and DigAlert (811) marking before any digging.
- Clearing and demolition. Structures come down, concrete is broken out, and brush and debris are removed.
- Haul-off and final walk. Everything is hauled away and we walk the site with you.
Permits, environmental and utilities
Tearing down structures on a lot usually requires a demolition permit, and older buildings may need an asbestos survey first. Clearing vegetation may also come with local rules, such as protected trees (oaks are protected in many Ventura County and LA County cities), nesting-bird timing, and hillside or erosion-control requirements. Utilities need to be disconnected and underground lines marked before digging. We’ll flag anything we see during the site walk, and you or your builder should confirm the rules with your city or the county. The owner or GC usually pulls the permit, but we can pull it for you. BRG Demolition doesn’t do asbestos or lead abatement. A licensed abatement contractor must handle asbestos and lead first, and we start after clearance.

FAQ
What does site clearing include?
It depends on the lot, but usually removing structures, concrete, debris and vegetation, then hauling it all away and leaving the site rough-graded or clean for the next contractor. Your bid lists exactly what’s included.
Do you remove trees?
Yes. Tree and stump removal is done in-house. Some trees, especially oaks, are protected in many local cities and need a permit before removal.
Do I need a permit to clear my lot?
If structures are being demolished, almost certainly. Vegetation clearing and grading may also need approval depending on the city and the site. We’ll tell you what we typically see in your area.
Can you clear a lot that’s being sold?
Yes. Clearing an overgrown or cluttered lot before listing is a common job for us.
How long does site clearing take?
That depends on the size of the lot, how much is on it and access. We’ll give you a realistic timeline with your bid.
