Whether you’re tearing down an older home to rebuild, clearing a garage to make room for an ADU, or removing a structure that’s past saving, BRG Demolition handles residential demolition from the first permit question to the last load of debris. We’re a licensed demolition contractor (CSLB #1096336) based in Camarillo, and we work for homeowners, property owners and the builders they hire.
What’s included
Every house demolition job is different, but a typical scope includes:
- Full house teardowns for rebuilds and new construction
- Garage, ADU-prep and outbuilding demolition, including detached garages, sheds, guest units and carports
- Partial demolition, such as removing an addition, a second story or a damaged section while protecting what stays
- Foundation and slab removal when the new build needs a clean start
- Debris haul-off of wood, drywall, roofing, concrete and metal. We recycle concrete, metal and green waste where possible and provide disposal and recycling receipts.
- Final site cleanup so the lot is ready for your builder, surveyor or grading contractor
How the process works
- Site visit and bid. We walk the property, look at access, neighbors, utilities and what’s staying, and give you a written bid with a clear scope.
- Pre-demo prep. Permits, asbestos survey results and utility disconnects are lined up before any equipment shows up (more on that below).
- Demolition. Our crew takes the structure down in a controlled sequence, with dust control and attention to fences, trees, driveways and neighboring property.
- Haul-off and cleanup. Debris is loaded and hauled off, and the site is cleaned up to the level agreed in your bid.
- Walkthrough. We walk the finished site with you so you know exactly what’s been done.
Permits, asbestos and utilities
Most cities in Ventura and Los Angeles counties require a demolition permit to remove a house or other structure, and requirements vary from city to city. Older homes often need an asbestos survey before demolition. In Ventura County that falls under the Ventura County Air Pollution Control District, and in LA County under the South Coast AQMD. Gas, electric, water and sewer also need to be disconnected or capped by the right parties before work starts. BRG Demolition doesn’t do asbestos or lead abatement. A licensed abatement contractor must handle asbestos and lead first, and we start after clearance.
The owner or GC usually pulls the demolition permit, but we can pull it for you. Either way, we’ll tell you what your city typically needs and make sure nothing starts until it’s in place.

FAQ
How much does it cost to demolish a house?
It depends on the size of the house, how it was built, whether the slab and foundation come out, site access, asbestos or other hazardous materials, and how much debris has to be hauled. We give every client a free, written bid after seeing the property.
Do I need a permit to tear down my house?
In almost every case, yes. Your city’s building department issues demolition permits, and most will want to see utility disconnects and, for older buildings, an asbestos survey. We’ll walk you through what your city usually requires.
How long does a house demolition take?
The demolition itself is often a matter of days, but the total timeline depends on permits, asbestos survey results and utility disconnects, which usually take longer than the demo. We’ll give you a realistic schedule with your bid.
Can you remove just the garage or part of the house?
Yes. We do garage, outbuilding and partial demolition, and we protect the parts of the property that are staying.
Will you remove the foundation and slab too?
If your project needs it, yes. Tell us whether your builder wants the foundation out or left in place, and we’ll include it in the bid.
